Where Are the Gold Stars? Alright, so you've been reading around the site for a while and you've probably noticed that, despite the fact that we review products here at GTW, there are no "scores". If you're asking yourself why I can answer that fairly easy for you: We don't score products. Gasp! A review site that doesn't toss about pectenages, gold stars, or 7/10 scores. Who would have thought? Well, I would have. Let me tell you why, though. Frankly, I cannot program a game, I cannot create a digital camera, I cannot manufacture a laptop. Because of all that I do not feel it is my right to score someone else's work who can accomplish those things... even if they accomplish them poorly. So, how do you know if we like something and would recommend it? Easy. We write our articles here from our perspective and we remember at all times that they are nothing more than our opinions. If you've been reading here for a while and you realise a certain writer has the same taste as you, well, you might look at a product that they say they enjoyed. That's not saying that we don't have some sort of srtucture here, we do. So let me take a moment and lay that out for all of you now: Games: Absolutely Freakin' Loved It! - This means this is a game the writer adored. Top of the top in their mind. Cream of the crop in their heart. The writer has a hard time finding things in this game not to love. Really Freakin' Enjoyed It! - This game is damned near perfect in our eyes. There may be some quirks or bugs here and there, but nothing stands out that deters us from enjoying the game. Really Enjoyed It. - This game was fun. We felt like we got our money's worth out of it. Odds are, we will play this game several more times once we are done with it. Enjoyed It. - It was good, not great, but still enjoyable. Consider this like a movie you didn't mind paying the $6 for a small cola while watching. It Was Fun. - This is about as average as you can get. This title did nothing to break the mould, but it didn't break itself either. You can still play this title and get something from it. Did I Buy This? - You'll probably be wishing there was a demo for this game long before you bought it. You might enjoy it, but we sure didn't. However, it was enough to make us at least finish it. Who Bought This for Me? - Oh the humanity! Seriously, which one of you jerks forced this thing on me? I know where you live! I'd Rather Watch Paint Dry! - This is saved for the worst of the worst. These are games you should wait for someone else to rent then not play it only to redicule that person for renting it. Technology: The Platinum Pinnacle - This is technology that is a "must have" in our eyes. We love it, we sleep with it, we even talk to it when no one else is looking and we don't care. Where was this tech all our lives? The Golden Egg - This piece of technology WILL make your life better and people will love you for it. Well, okay, at least the first part is true. Basically, we're damned happy we bought this tech and not concerned about a single penny we spent on it. The Silver Cup - Pretty well put-together and thought-out piece of tech, this one is. The price might need some work, but if it's something that strikes your liking you probably won't mind the price tag The Bronze Bathseat - We probably should have waited till there was a sale on this thing. It's not horrid, but paying full price would just be daft. The Nickel Nanometer - There's probably better versions of this sort of thing out there for better prices. It's not exactly the worst thing you will ever set your hands on, but it's not the best for sure. The Tin Turd - Who the hell put this thing together? Why did they even make it? If someone gives this to me as a gift I know just how they feel about me. Entertainment: I am actually going to let one of my other writers work out the system here because I want other flavours than just my own to be available here. At any time there can be some add-ons to these ratings like "Enjoyed It... but". That's up to the write. The point here is for you, the reader, to get an opinion from your favourite writer from their perspective. We're not concerned about industry mumbo-jumbo. And I am sure you just want to know if this is something you'll be happy buying.
