Editorial - How to Make a Point And Sound Like an Idiot PDF Print E-mail
Written by Ryan L. Lopees

... all at the same time!

Jack Thompson is back again! This time, far too close to me here in Vegas. His new Utah Game Ammendment is making press already. And while I agree with him on the point of enforcing ESRB restrictions at the retail level, he pretty much goes on to ruin any credibility he had left by sticking his foot so far into his mouth that he can taste his own kneecap. If you're bored and want to subject yourself to some more Thompsonisms, read the G4TV review here.

If you really just don't want to read the whole thing, let me quote my favourite part just for litte ol' you:

"By the way, I helped drive Take-Two's stock down  from $27 (when I sold mine), down to $8. I'm obviously way smarter than the idiots running Take-Two."

Now if you will pardon me, I need to fill up the gas tank so I can actually make the drive around Jack's ego.

Dammit, I Am Agreeing with Adam Again!

This week Adam posts his Soapbox gripe about multiplayer. For those of you who've been following GTW for a while, this arguement might sound familiar. That would probably be because of this article. Click on to listen to what Adam has to say, read our editorial here, then come let us know how you feel about the issue.

Maybe The World IS Small After All

I like to think that I am someone who has their finger on the pulse of technology in these digital days in which we all live. However, even I find something new about something old every now and then. Did I just lose you there? Well welcome to my mind, now you’re never getting out. Or… you could just read on a bit and figure what I am blathering on about.

Gaming At Work: Good or Evil? PDF Print E-mail

What The Boss Does Know...

Image hosted by Photobucket.comA lot of us here love gaming, but also have to work (those that don't, enjoy that while it lasts). I've noticed a trend in my office that makes me wonder. When the boss isn't around, a lot of times people play games. Now, I don't work with an office full of "gamers". For example, nobody here even knows what new games are coming to any of the 3 major consoles this month. I doubt they would care. They are casual gamers at best. Mostly utilizing Yahoo! Games, MSN Games, and online crossword puzzles. I, on the other hand, tend to bring at least one device with me every day - GBA Micro, NDS, or PSP.

Brandon Sanderson: Behind the "Wheel" PDF Print E-mail

And The Literary Torch is Passed.

Just a little over a year ago, the book world suffered a massive loss in the passing of fantasy-fiction great Robert Jordan.  This left fans of the “Wheel of Time” series (particularly myself, an avid Jordan fan) saddened and curious as to the fate of the twelfth and final book in the series, “A Memory of Light”, which Jordan worked on prior to his death.  Will it get published?  Will we, the fans of the series, have read the existing 11 books in vain?  Will we never see the Last Battle play out?

ISP Bandwidth Caps versus. The Digital Distribution

If you’re a computer user, gamer, or have a spiffy cell phone that is more than a cell phone, then you are already familiar with the idea of “Digital Distribution”.  Knowing the market, you should be able to see an upcoming issue that we're all going to have to face soon enough. If you’re one of the ever growing minority groups that are not included in the three groups above let me explain what Digital Distribution is for you.

You didn't level your own character! You suck!

Yep, that is the battlecry of those who stand firmly against these sorts of services. Hell, I've even gone there myself once or twice. However, after watching an episode of Gamer Generation from the Discovery Channel I got to see some of the faces behind these services.

I'd like to think that I have an open mind about things. I'd like to think that, but it isn't always the case. I have to admit that, while watching this show, my perspective was changed a bit in this department. I am not condoning these sorts of services at all, but I am not so sure I can condemn them as easily as I would have in the past. Stick with me and let's discuss this a bit, you and I.

To Multiplayer or Not To Multiplayer PDF Print E-mail
Written by Ryan L. Lopees

It's dangerous to go alone! Take this!

So I see time and again that many gamers will demand multiplayer in every game conceived or else “they won’t buy it”. Now, I can surely understand the desire for replayability as I like multiplayer as much as the next gamer, assuming the gamer next to me likes multiplayer, that is. With the cost of PC games soaring past the $50 USD mark and Console games blasting past the $60 USD mark (adding taxes to both respectively), it is fair for consumers to want the best bang for their buck. However, does this necessarily have to be multiplayer?

Opinions are like... PDF Print E-mail

Yeah, well, you know, that's just, like, your opinion, man.

So, I've been milling around a lot of my forum haunts lately. Partly to promote the site, partly to see what's going on, and partly because I get extremely bored sometimes. In my travels around the vastness that is the internet I am starting to see a trend and it's not a trend I like much. Then again, that's just my opinion. Oddly enough, that's what I am going to rant about here: opinions.
