Tech Review - PlayStation 3 Zero Wireless Controller
Written by LJParker
Tuesday, 30 December 2008 15:09

Product: PlayStation 3 Zero Wireless Controller
Manufacturer: Nyko
MSRP: $59.99
Street: $15

The Zero came out a few weeks before the official DualShock 3 controller for the Playstation 3. On paper it is a very tempting piece of hardware made even more tempting by the current street price of only $15, and the larger grips for our large adult hands. Including Sixaxis motion control, rumble, and wireless play makes it look like a better deal than the official Sony offers. Is it the right controller for you? Read on to find out.

Movie News - Night of the Living Dead in 3-D!

Zombies... comin' at ya!

The colorized version of the 1968 Romero classic is being 3D-ified. I would've chosen the 1990 remake with Tony Todd personally, but I'm cool with them using the classic.

I'm the first to despise  remakes that don't bring anything new to the original film. However, I'm completely down with attempts to re-imagine a classic film.

Gus Van Zant's Psycho = Shot for shot remake of the original. Why f***ing bother?!

Christopher Nolan's Batman Begins = Added the "dark" that the Dark Knight was always missing.

Night of the Living Dead in 3-D? No one's changing the movie we love. They're just giving us a whole other dimension to experience it in. I'm completely on board with that sort of thinking!

T'is the Season!

I just wanted to stop and wish everyone the happiest of holidays. May your stocking be full of expensive new toys to play with... and hopefully someone else bought them for you instead of you buying them for yourself.

Remember to come by and share your Holiday Loot List!

Theirs is Definitely Bigger Than Mine.

Capcom has sent us a friendly little invite for CES '09 this year. Looks like they are planning some big things. And when I say big, I mean 7 freakin' stories tall "big". Capcom is going to be showcasing a lot of new goodies at CES '09 this January, but I thought I would go ahead and give you a little taste of the list they sent us. Clickity click, people!

Game News - MGST

Is That a Snake in Your Pocket...

It hurts to know that my 360 won’t be seeing the new Metal Gear release. I’m taking an even harder hit here knowing that the next installment of the series is coming to the iPhone after I saw the teaser that Konami released last week.

The official title, Metal Gear Solid Touch, has eight levels with more to come later on. From what I can tell by the clue of playing as old Snake is that this is going to take place at some point during MGS4.

All the controls are touch. (Duh.) It wouldn’t be too far off to guess that Konami might make some use of the tilt sensitivity too. That would be just plain cool. Fans of the series will also be happy for the points awarded will go towards unlockables like wallpapers and pictures.

There’s also the ante that Konami is bringing DDR, and Silent Hill to the iPhone too. Silent Hill, man, that’s just another low blow Konami. MGS is launching somewhere in the ballpark of no idea with DDR and SH hitting later this month.

GTW News - GTW Acquisitions

Grow, Baby, Grow!

Just a quick tidbit today and an explaination as to why I've been relatively quiet again lately. I have been in talks with the, now former, owner of www.GamersPlatform.com for a while now. As of today, GTW has offcially acquired GamersPlatform. GTW will now be extending itself as a network rather than a single site. This will be the first of, hopefully, many expansions for the GTW name. As it stands now, things will remain the same here at GTW save the possible addition of a few more staff members. News reported on GamersPlatform will also be reported here, but as GamersPlatform is a gaming site any news or reviews in relation to technology or entertainment will stay here at GTW. Keep watching for more exciting details (okay, so I am excited...).

The Winners Are...

Spike TV's Video Game Awards are done and over with now. So, I thought it would be nice for me to just show you the winners here in an easy to find list rather than watch the really, really bad Jack Black segments all the way through the award show. Isn't it nice that I braved the two hours rather than forcing you to do so? I knew it was *grin*. Here you go:

Movie News - This Bat Soars...

...but is it Oscar-worthy?

So believe the folks over at the Dark Campaign, a fan-created support page looking to help push Academy consideration for Nolan's take on the "Batman" franchise.  Best Supporting Actor nominations and Best Score considerations seem absolutely definite at this point, but the journey to the coveted Best Picture nomination may be a difficult road.

Kill One, Save a Thousand.

By now we should all be aware that movie studios with deep pockets and deadlines to maintain don’t always come back with the best games. Remember GoldenEye on the Nintendo 64 and how great it was? Remember the steaming pile of crap that came after it in the form of Tomorrow Never Dies on the Playstation? Exactly who was the publisher behind that? MGM Interactive. Point and match. Now thank the higher powers that be that this only happens about 40 percent of the time.

Newsflash

Forums Are Now Live!

After an idiotic attempt to hack our sites by some kids, GTW is back up. Give it a couple days before each feature is reactivated. As for the "hackers", they left BIG fingerprints everywhere and have been reported to the IC3, FBI, and Interpol.
